Below are some of the pistol matches / disciplines available at Lismore Target Pistol Club:
Centrefire/Sports Pistol – Precision Stage.
The target used for the Centrefire Precision Stage is the ISSF 25m Precision Target shown on the above. For Centrefire you will need a centrefire pistol, for Sports you will need a .22 long calibre pistol. Both versions require 70 rounds. Preparation time is 5 minutes.
Sighting Series:
5 shots in 5 minutes.
Patch.
Competition Series:
6 series of 5 shots in 5 minutes.
Score and Patch after each series.
Centrefire/Sports Pistol – Rapid Stage.
The target used in the Centrefire Rapid Stage is the ISSF 25m Rapid target. Shooters must be in the ready position at the start of each series. The ready position is arm extended at 45 degrees forward and down. Each series the targets are exposed for 3 seconds and away for 7 seconds, there are 5 exposures per series. When the targets turn to the exposed position the shooter raises the pistol and fires, than lowers to the ready position to await the next exposure. This is commonly referred to as ‘Duelling’. Preparation time is 3 minutes.
Sighting Series:
5 shots timing (3 seconds exposed, 7 seconds away for 5 exposures).

6 Series of 5 shots timing (3 seconds exposed, 7 seconds away for 5 exposures).
Score and Patch after each series.
Rapid Fire Pistol.
The target used for Rapid Fire Pistol is the ISSF 25m Rapid Fire Pistol target. You will need a .22 long calibre pistol and 65 rounds. Shooters must be in the ready position at the start of each series. The ready position is arm extended at 45 degrees forward and down. When the targets turn to the exposed position the shooter raises the pistol and fires one round at each target in the allocated time. Preparation time is 3 minutes.
Sighting Series:
1 series of 5 shots on 5 targets in 8 seconds.

Standard Pistol
The target used for Standard Pistol is the ISSF 25m Precision Target shown on the left. You will need a .22 long calibre pistol and 65 rounds. During the 20 and 10 second series shooters must be at the ready position at the start of the series. The ready position is arm extended at 45 degrees forward and down. Preparation time is 5 minutes.
Sighting Series:
1 series of 5 shots in 150 seconds
Competition Series:
4 series of 5 shots in 150 seconds4 series of 5 shots in 20 seconds4 series of 5 shots in 10 seconds

Air Pistol
The target used in Air Pistol is the ISSF 10m Air Pistol Target.You will need a .177 Air Pistol and 60 pellets + as many pellets as you like during sighters. Preparation time and unlimited sighters is 15 minutes.
Competition Series (Mens/Junior Mens):
60 shots in 1 hour and 30 minutes
Competition Series (Womens/Junior Womens):
40 shots in 1 hour
50m Pistol
Formerly known as Free Pistol, the 50m Pistol event is shot at all levels of competition up to and including the Olympics and Paralympics using .22 calibre single-shot pistols.
Distance: 50 metres
Calibre: .22 long rifle rimfire
There is no minimum trigger pull specified for this event.
Number of shots/time: 15minutes of unlimited sighters60 competition shots in a total competition time of 1.5 hours
Target: 10 ring of 50mm diameter, each ring increases by 50mm
In this event the pistol may only be loaded with one round of ammunition at a time and must be operated with only one hand, which cannot be supported in any way. There are practically no rules for the pistol itself, trigger force may be as low as the competitor chooses, the grip may be designed in any way provided it does not give support beyond the wrist, and there are no restrictions on size and weight of the pistol.
The top 8 contestants having the highest scores progress on to the final, which consists of ten shots, each fired within 75 seconds. The final score is added to the qualification score.
50m Pistol is described as the purest form of precision shooting amongst the pistol events, which has undergone minimal rule changes over the past 75 years. In Australia the event is also shot by women at most competitions.
